The charm of the mapcouch is the logical inclusion of cryptid seamonsters in its cartography. I admire the audacity of the mapcouch to so pointedly display exactly where it stands, which happens to be were we sit, in this oft ridiculed debate...

I originally purchased and ordered the mapcouch...I thought it would make a WORLDY statement in my small home office, but I didn't have the vision.... and never saw that it would become the internet icon it has become in mapcouch blogging... wow!

“Anonymous” needs to remember the anonymous “wife” was the one with the vision for the kids to figure out where in the world their dad was while away at work, by pointing it out on the map to them; hoping for a geography lesson at the same time! Of course, without reminder of cryptic seamonsters, so as not to scare the poor lads.
Who would have thought a re-upholstery project would make a couch so FAMOUS!
Thanks to the ‘Anonymous” son.

to clarify; Cryptid: n. in the study of cryptozoology, a cryptid is any animal or creature that has been reported to have existed, but has not been proven to. The literal meaning of the word is "the study of hidden animals". Their presumed existence is often derived from anecdotal evidence and/or other evidence (ie: the map couch) insufficient to prove their existence with scientific certainty.
